Day 7: Facing Trials in Our Mission | Advent: Following the Path of Guadalupe and St. Juan Diego

Today we conclude the first segment of the apparition, focusing on Juan Diego's fidelity after delivering the message to Bishop Fray Juan de Zumárraga (verses 39-48). The humble Juan Diego waits, delivers the message of the Queen of Heaven, but is met not with acceptance but with the bishop's prudent delay and disbelief. Though Juan Diego leaves saddened because his mission was not immediately fulfilled, his crucial response is not to abandon the task, but to immediately return to the hill of Tepeyac. This moment highlights the conflict between human prudence and radical faith, teaching us that true obedience to God's call often involves facing initial rejection or delay. Our faith and confidence must rest only in the one who sent us, requiring us to return to Christ and Mary in prayer to report the obstacles and receive new instructions, rather than giving up. The reflection invites listeners to examine where they have faced resistance in their own missions and to imitate Juan Diego's humble, faithful return to the Queen of Heaven.
